"Battling Billy"
workshop |
|
LODDON players were put through their paces on Saturday afternoon when
professional actor/director Maurice Thorogood and playwright Luath Grant
Ferguson visited Sherfield on Loddon for a workshop entitled "Battling Billy".
Battling Billy is a play about William Cobbett - Farnham's most illustrious
son,, political journalist, MP and defender of the poor and is one of the
productions by the New Farnham Repertory Actors' Company; directed by Maurice
Thorogood. Maurice is a member of their Management Committee and their main aim
is to re-open the Redgrave Theatre in Farnham. Luath Grant Ferguson said: "The
session was useful - we certainly found it fun". Chris Horton from the Loddon
Players said: "There was a bit of everything: breathing and voice coaching,
improvisation, singing and as it's a period piece we all had a go at writing
with a quill! We weren't sure what form the workshop would take but it was
thrilling and beneath all the fun there was much to learn. We're looking
forward to seeing Battling Billy when it's performed in Farnham in September."
